ESU Powerpacks


The new ESU PowerPack Mini can be wired to all fourth and fifth generation ESU decoders. It reliably supplies energy to your locomotive when traversing dirty track or long turnout ladders.

With its energy storage (1 Farad capacity) the unit supplies power to all light and motor functioPowerPack Minins as well as to the sound module. Subject to the energy consumption of your model it may continue to move for up to three seconds.

The PowerPack Mini incorporates an integral charging circuit controlled by the decoder. Therefore it may be connected even during programming. In order to avoid an undue load on the booster in case there are several models in the same booster sector, the charging current is limited.

The buffer time can be reduced by means of a CV. This may be useful to assure the correct stopping position ahead of signals showing the “Stop” aspect (red signal).

Although it is considerably smaller than its predecessor, the space requirements of the PowerPack Mini of about 15.7 mm x 9.7 mm x 13 mm must be taken into account when installing this unit.

A three-pole wire harness connects the PowerPack Mini to the decoder. The wires are already soldered to the PowerPack Mini and must be soldered to the appropriate solder pads of the decoder.

PowerPack Maxi

The new ESU PowerPack Maxi has been developed as the powerful complement to the LokSound L V4.0 /  LokSound  5 L decoder. It can, of course, provided there is sufficient space, also be connected to all LokPilot V4.0, LokSound V4.0, LokSound V4.0 M4, LokPilot 5 or LokSound 5 decoders. It provides uninterrupted power to your locomotive when traversing dirty track and long turnout ladders. All sound, lighting and motor functions are buffered with the aid of two energy storage capacitors enabling your models – subject to the total energy consumption - to continue running for up to three seconds.

The PowerPack Maxi incorporates an integral charging circuit controlled by the decoder. Therefore it may be connected even during programming. The charging current is limited in order to avoid an undue load on the booster, in case there are several models in the same booster sector.

The buffer time can be reduced by means of a CV. This may be useful to assure the correct stopping position ahead of signals showing the “Stop” aspect (red signal).

The space requirements of the PowerPack Maxi of about 27.5 mm x 15.7 mm x 13 mm must be taken into account when installing this unit.

A three-pole wire harness connects the PowerPack Maxi to the decoder. The wires are already soldered to the PowerPack Maxi but must be soldered to the appropriate solder pads of the decoder.

PowerPack Mini XS

The ESU PowerPack MiniXS can be wired to all fifth generation ESU decoders (LokSound 5, LokPilot 5, LokPilot 5 Basic). It reliably supplies energy to your locomotive when traversing dirty track or long turnout ladders.

With its energy storage (6 x 0.3 Farad capacity) the unit supplies power to all light and motor functions as well as to the sound system. Subject to the energy consumption of your model it may continue to move for up to 1.5 seconds. This extremely flat module is intended for smaller vehicles with moderate power consumption.

The PowerPack MiniXS is equipped with a microcontroller and incorporates an charging circuit controlled by the decoder. Therefore it may be connected even during programming. In order to avoid an undue load on the booster in case there are several models in the same booster sector, the charging current is limited. The buffer time can be reduced by means of a CV. This may be useful to assure the correct stopping position ahead of signals showing the “Stop” aspect (red signal). The output voltage is adjusted fully automatically to the track voltage by the microcontroller in order to avoid flickering of the lighting when buffering is activated.

The space requirements of the PowerPack MiniXS of about 29 mm x 5.1 mm x 15 mm must be taken into account when installing this unit. A three-pole wire harness connects the PowerPack MiniXS to the decoder.

PowerPack Midi

The ESU PowerPack Midi can be wired to all fifth generation ESU decoders (LokSound 5, LokPilot 5, LokPilot 5 Basic). It reliably supplies energy to your locomotive when traversing dirty track or long turnout ladders.

With its energy storage (6x1 Farad capacity) the unit supplies power to all light and motor functions as well as to the sound system. Subject to the energy consumption of your model it may continue to move for up to three seconds.

The PowerPack Midi is equipped with a microcontroller and incorporates an charging circuit controlled by the decoder. Therefore it may be connected even during programming. In order to avoid an undue load on the booster in case there are several models in the same booster sector, the charging current is limited. The buffer time can be reduced by means of a CV. This may be useful to assure the correct stopping position ahead of signals showing the “Stop” aspect (red signal). The output voltage is adjusted fully automatically to the track voltage by the microcontroller in order to avoid flickering of the lighting when buffering is activated.

The space requirements of the PowerPack Midi of about 20.8 mm (L) x 13.8 mm (W) x 13.4 mm (H) must be taken into account when installing this unit. A three-pole wire harness connects the PowerPack Midi to the decoder.
